An important warning has been issued by experts regarding weight-loss recipes and detox suggestions rapidly spreading on social media. Univ.-Vis. Prof. Dr. Mikail Fikret Aktaş, Specialist in Healthy Living and Nutrition Medicine, stated that contents lacking scientific basis pose serious health risks, adding:
“Most of the weight-loss recipes circulating on social media are not scientific. These non-personalized suggestions may disrupt metabolism, affect hormonal balance, and lead to long-term health problems.”
Prof. Dr. Aktaş emphasized that fast-result detoxes, single-food diets, and so-called miracle mixtures have no clinical validity and continued:
“The content presented as formulas that slim you down in a short time overlooks both physiological and psychological effects. These methods may weaken immunity, disrupt the digestive system, and cause vitamin-mineral imbalances.”
Noting that each individual’s metabolic rate, health history, and lifestyle differ from one another, Prof. Dr. Aktaş explained where the danger of social media trends begins:
“A method applied by one person may harm another’s body. No approach that is not based on scientific data can be considered a treatment. Nutrition information should be obtained from physicians and scientific sources, not from influencers.”
Prof. Dr. Mikail Fikret Aktaş concluded his statement by urging citizens to be careful when choosing information sources:
“Health is not guided by algorithms. Accurate information is obtained through scientific research and expert evaluation.”
